China Shipbuilding Industry Updates - Jan 10, 2018


(20-NOV-2017) 
China’s COSCO SHIPPING Energy and Dalian Shipbuilding Industry co. , ltd. (DSIC) signed the contract of building four very large crude carriers(VLCCs) and three Suezmax tankers in Shanghai.

It is reported that the total price of the four 319,000-dwt VLCCs and three 158,000-dwt Suezmax tankers is about 3.67 billion yuan. Four VLCCs are expected to be delivered between August 2020 and March 2021, and three Suezmax tankers are expected to be delivered between August 2020 and January 2021. 
 
The four 319,000-dwt VLCCs is the seventh generation of new type VLCCs developed independently by DSIC. They can meet the latest structural common specification, enhance the ship’s safety and conform to the three-level standard of the ship's NOx emission limit and enhances the competitiveness of the ship's green operation. It indicates DSIC’s advantages on the construction of new round Suez type ships.

DSIC's Changxing Shipyard just signed a newbuild contract of ten 25,800 DWT bulkers with a Dalian owner at a gross value of 600 million RMB yuan. The first three vessels will be started building since April 2018 and delivered by the end of 2019. The shipyard is specialized in building unpowered special-purpose ships and fishing vessels. 

(19-DEC-2017) 
China CSIC Got Order of Refitting Ships for MSC and CMA CGM.CSIC affiliated yard Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry (BSIC in Qingdao) obtained the orders for the upgrade of 9+2 14,000 TEU container ships of MSC after making the deal of refitting 5+5 container ships for CMA CGM. 

MSC signed contract with BSIC to increase the length of its nine 14,000 TEU container ships to boost their capacity to 17,000 TEU and another two ships will be upgraded and delivered next year, according to sources.

(20-DEC-2017) 
CSIC's Tianjin Xingang Shipyard signed a contract with COSCO Shipping Qingdao to build a ferry with capacity of 700 passengers and 2,000 meters of vehicle parking lines, 189.5 meters in length and 26.5 meters in width. 

(29-DEC-2017) 
Dalian's DACKS received an order from COSCO Shipping Energy for building two 308,000-DWT very large crude oil carriers(VLCCs).

(2-JAN-2018)
ICBC Leasing orders six VLOCs at China’s Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry(BSIC in Qingdao) on December 27, 2017. Totally, ICBC Leasing has orders 6+3 VLOCs at Beihai Shipbuilding and those vessels will be delivered from late 2019 to 2021.
 
The signing of the 325,000-ton LNG-ready ship will mainly transport iron ore from Brazil to Asia. Each vessel will cost about $ 75 million with 340 meters in length and 62 meters in width.
 
This contract is a part of the long-term contract of affreightment (COA) signed with Brazil’s Vale. Besides, the vessel also meets the IMO Tier III emission standards and will significantly reduce transportation costs compared to conventional ones.
